ANONYMOUS ≠ PRIVATE
THE FINE PRINT.
BAD RECEPTION stores a random browser identity, your Signal Credit balance and credit ledger, messages, reconstructions, assignments, reactions, reports, and basic first-party usage events. We use these to run the game, prevent abuse, and understand whether it works.
Your words leave this browser.
Strangers see your transmissions. Either participant may share a completed result through an unlisted public link. Shared visitors guess before seeing the original. Do not send anything you wouldn’t want repeated, including personal details.
Your receiver stays here.
Supabase anonymous authentication stores a durable session in this browser. No player name, email, phone, or password is required. Clearing browser data or losing the device may permanently lose access to your history and credits. There is no recovery account.
How long we keep things.
By default, unshared completed transmissions are kept for 90 days, expired signals for 7 days, and removed material for 30 days. Public shares last up to 365 days. First-party analytics are kept for 90 days. Human archive transmissions stay available until withdrawn or removed; credit provenance is retained while the anonymous identity exists. Cleanup runs daily, so removal may follow the retention deadline by one day.
Services and safety.
Vercel hosts the website; Supabase provides authentication and database storage. Hosting and network providers may process IP addresses for delivery and abuse prevention. We don’t fingerprint browsers, sell personal data, or send message text to third-party analytics. Optional Cloudflare Turnstile checks may be used for suspicious activity. Initial moderation is local and deterministic.
Public content can be reported from any transmission. Administrators review reports and can remove content. Avoid putting personal data in a transmission in the first place.
